Training on FIB

OK...let me do this fast.

Monday,I would start working on FIB qunta 3D machine at NNC .FIB stands for Focussed ion beam.FIB equipment is a nanofabrication tool which can produce a beam( both electron and ions).It also can produce X rays for elemental checmical analysis.And resoultion is generally less than 100 nm.I am including the picture of the qunta 3D FIB machine.

Primary function of this equipment is that it can etch a surface,deposit a compound with a beam( Ga ion generally).This tool is so good that it can also act as SEM( scanning electron microscope) which means that you can see the fabrication as it is being done and where it is been done.

I am really excited to get my hands on this machine at NNC( www.ntu.edu.sg/nnc).Training is given by Prof.Zhou Wei who has been working on self assembly nano structures.After three hours of training(9-12 am),I may have to fabricate some sample pieces.Training will also continue on Tuesday.

I have got the Pdf manual for the machine and have started looking at it.Seems exciting.
I am really excited to attend the training,I will post what we have done there and also some wonderful pictures of nanofabricated samples...Will get back with them...
